MEC Endorses Mission Zero
Magna Electric Corporation (MEC) announced our partnership and formal endorsement of Mission: Zero on December 12. The newly signed agreement hangs in the Regina Office.
The safety culture at MEC is a team effort. In an industry with very few second chances, our mission has to be zero injuries. Getting home safe at the end of the day is everyone’s top priority. As part of the partnership, MEC will promote Mission: Zero by brandishing the Mission: Zero logo on our vehicle fleet. Watch for decals on our fleet in February 2013.
MEC’s relationship with WorkSafe Saskatchewan (WSS) is not new. In June of 2011, MEC and WorkSafe SK launched a summer campaign to distribute thousands of pairs of safety glasses throughout Saskatchewan. There are now over 40,000 pairs distributed annually.
MEC also won the WorkSafe Saskatchewan Safe Employer award in 2010.
About Safe Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan has the second worst workplace time loss record in the country and WorkSafe Saskatchewan has been coordinating a Mission Zero campaign reducing workplace injuries. But, away from work, people are 2 times more likely to have an unintentional injury, 4 times more likely to suffer a permanent disability and 5 times more likely to die from a preventable injury. “Mission: Zero Live Injury Free” will broaden Worksafe’s campaign.
Live safe at home and at work.

Purolator Tackle Hunger, collects donations in the form of food and cash for local food banks in Canadian Football League (CFL) cities across Canada. The program is designed to get Purolator employees, Purolator customers as well as Canadian football fans, excited about and committed to alleviating hunger in their local community. On July 12th, 2012 the Grey Cup stopped by the MEC Regina office. Employees of MEC gave food bank donations and had their pictures taken with the Grey Cup.
Magna Electric Corporation (MEC) has once again been selected as one of Saskatchewan's Top 20 Employers! For a second straight year, MEC has joined the ranks of Saskatchewan's best and brightest companies. Included in this year's list are companies such as Cameco, Point2 Technologies and various crown corporations including SaskEnergy, SaskPower and Sasktel. As discussed in the article, MEC offers its employees comprehensive benefits and retirement plans, flexible work hours, referral bonuses, competitive wages and various social events where all expenses are paid. Despite MEC's incredible growth over the past few years, it has maintained a dedication to its employees and to being a top employer!
